Oldham, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom - 22nd October 2024: One Dimensional Creatures are buzzing to announce the launch of their seventh single, Freedom is Hate, via BKD Music, dropping on streaming and download platforms on 1st November 2024. Freedom is Hate is a high energy, gritty guitar fuelled track. Its punchy verses rhythmically shout about the rot of neoliberalism in the UK. The lies the ruling class don't tell, the secrets they don't keep. The booming bass, energetic drums, and crunchy guitars drive the track forward with urgency. The chorus hits hard with an added layer of heavy fuzzed-up guitars and a transition to a more grungy singing style.
The angry vocals soar over the web of distorted instruments peaking with the track's title lyric,
“Freedom is hate, you wouldn't lie to us this way?” giving the chorus an almost anthemic, sing-a-long
quality. The track is driven forward with unrelenting energy and, with a length of less than two and a
half minutes, is quite moreish.
Lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Ste Wilson, says “After performing one of our tracks
about the 18th century economist Adam Smith at Bank Top Tavern in Oldham the sound engineer,
Rhys Thomas, said I should read up on Milton Friedman and Friedrich Hayek if I wanted to
know about the real origins of neoliberalism. He was right and this song
came from it”.
The cover art was created by
Tony Leavy and features
a photo she took in a coffee shop in South Korea showing a toy clown trapped in a hanging cage.
The track will release with a music video on YouTube and the band will be playing it live in
Manchester at The Peer Hat on 11th November supporting the alternative rock trio, SINKR.
One Dimensional Creatures will be playing Freedom is Hate at gigs from now on and
the track will feature on their upcoming, yet to be named, debut album.
